they said, "you better run through the jungle..."
Significant events in the last week, in no particular order-- mostly because it's Friday, and Meredith's brain has forgotten what 'linear' means. ^_^

  • Saw Spiderman III last weekend. Definitely some dorky moments, and a few horrible scene choices, but Peter and Harry fought side by side!, which was enough to make it completely awesome for me. *hearts in eyes* And Harry had a scarred face... so gothic and romantic! And he died saving Peter! Harry/Peter OTP!
(Is it just me, or is MJ a 'ho? Normally, I like Kirstin Dunst, but... no, Mary Jane inspires vague loathing from me. I guess she seems to me like one of those girls who is adored and venerated for no good reason. I mean, my god, this movie is the first time she actually made an attempt to save herself! I'll never hate her as much as Lana Lang-- words can not describe how much I hate Lana Lang-- but... yeah. Come to think of it, I wasn't impressed with Gwen either. Spiderman needs young female characters who don't suck.)
  • On the wall in the second floor bathroom in the English and Philosophy building, someone wrote now is the only thing that is real. To which someone else, in bold red pen, replied, yesterday was real, and we have the bruises to prove it. Bathroom grafiti is a really bizarre window into the collective subconcious.
  • My job at the library is working out very well-- it mostly consists of checking records to figure out which new books we haven't bought yet, and then purchasing them, usually in German or Greek. X_x;;; 'Academy' is not spelled with a 'k', I don't care what language you're speaking! ^_~ (Seriously, it's nice, almost soothing work.)
  • I just finished reading Peter Straub and Stephen King's The Black House (for the third time) and have moved on to Straub's lost boy lost girl. Straub without King is somewhat headache inducing. It's good... but choppy, somehow.
  • I have Margaret Atwood's new Tents (as Leigh pointed out, this is actually The Tent. ^^;;; I suck. Pay attention, Meredith!), but I am saving it for the weekend when I can really savor it.

Once more into the breech, my friends! ^_^

Harry/Peter! Yes!!
Brittany made me write it for her when we got back from the movie. Some kind of alternate ending thing.
And it's not very flattering to Mary Jane, which gives you some indication of how I feel about her.
(Do you want to read the really bad, written-during-finals Spiderman fic? I was already going to try to clean it up a little to send to someone else, so you can if you'd like.)

Where my brother works, there was a whole debate on the bathroom wall about the pros and cons of unionizing.

Oh, I want the Harry/Peter! *waves hand about* Me, me, me! Send it to me! *grins*

You've gotta love public discourse. ^_^

Heh. So far, it's the only entry in my summer fic journal. I've been a slacker. Here.

Just out of curiosity, is Tents the same as The Tent?
Meredith Bronwen Mallory: rosegarnettrees on May 17th, 2007 03:52 am (UTC)
... Yeah. *sweatdrop* I think I was having a minor brainfart when I typed that up. Have you read it yet?

I haven't, although I have a copy sitting by my bed for whenever I have time. I asked, actually, because the fact that you have it sort of... messes with a sekrit plan of mine. Um. May I ask, for NO REASON WHATSOEVER, if there's any Atwood book you don't already have?

It looks like something you'll be able to pick up and put down, so that's a good plan. Though her drawings are a little scary. ^_~

A sekrit plan? *is in no way trying to divine Leigh's sekrit plan* I actually don't own Life Before Man or Dancing Girls (I think is the title-- short stories and poems, if I remember correctly).

You're such a sweetie.

I totally agree with you on everything you said about MJ. I really, really disliked her in this movie. And all the Harry/Peter stuff was wonderful :) The final fight against Venom and Sandman made was amazing! It was so nice to see Harry and Peter fighting side by side! And I have to admit, this was the first Spider-Man movie that made me cry!

I hated her in this movie, too. It's funny, because I loathed her in the first one, and then the second one had me warming up just a fraction... but this one has caused me to despise her even more. I can't find anything redeeming about her.

I loved Harry and Peter battling together. The snark was awesome, but it was even better to see how protective they were of each other. So sweet!

It definitely had a few campy moments (the jazz room bit - seriously, I spent the whole time trying not to howl with laughter at it), but overall I loved it! I cried over Harry, and I freaked when they fought side by side. So wonderful. Also, you might want to put this under a cut, it's definitely got spoilers in it. :)

And hey, off topic, but blisstasteful I were talking about 'The Red Truck Affair' and wondering if (hoping that) there would be more to it soon. Any chance?

That was just awful, wasn't it? And Peter seriously needs to be told that he can *not* pull off 'bad boy' hair. He just looked... oily. *shudder*

Harry was just wonderful, though. It was good to see him smile so much, too.

Sorry about the spoilers. I wasn't thinking. ^^;;;

*grins* I might have something for you here. ^___^ (I'm so glad you've enjoyed it so far, btw!)
