London...
My heart goes out to everyone in London-- I wish there was something more I could do for you. To all Brits on my flist, please check in when you get the chance, so I know you're okay.

How anyone can carry out such a monstrous attack and claim it as "holy" is beyond my scope. Any higher power that condones such bloodshed can not be a higher power, only twisted and poisonous rhetoric. These terrorists have corrupted the peaceful strictures of Islam-- they don't serve God or The Prophet, only themselves.

To all my Muslim friends, peace be upon you. We know this is not your will.

They're talking about possible attacks in Italy and Denmark as well. This just hurts the heart to see how people can use such a claim to do such acts. I have Muslim friends as well.. (Remember Patch, Mere?) both online and on campus here. To see how people look at the Muslim community, to see how a small group can promote such hatred, foster it and do such things, is just heart wrenching.

They never stop, do they? Do they even grasp the fact that they are taking the lives of actual, individual human beings?

I do remember Patchie! The misdirected hatred after these attacks always breaks my heart, because it makes us the bad guy, too. *sigh*

And again, you say it so perfectly.

(I'm tired of all of this, Meredith. I just can't wrap my head around it, why people do what they do.)

Thank you, sweetie. I can't quite grasp it all, either. Everytime something like this happens, it's like being shaken out of a dream or, rather, into a nightmare I can't recognize.
Take care,
Meredith
