Rebirth-Related Holidays
Well, it's that time of year again. Regardless of what you believe, I think the theme of death-and-rebirth is an influential one, something that's been kicking around in human conciousness since our very first realization of death. The Babylonians had a sacred lunar bull who constantly died and was reborn; Osiris was pieced together by his wife and given new life in the form of his son. The Greeks celebrated the return of Persephone from the land of the dead, just as the Celts celebrate deliverence from winter, the same way the Israelites celebrate their delieverence from bondage.

... I'm sorry if I had a little history-major!moment there, but in a time when differences between religions seem to be the only thing emphasized, I think it's important to remember that, as human beings, we all carry common fears and hopes, symbols echoing down through the ages. So, whether you wear a six pointed star, a five pointed one, a cross, a moon sigil, or none of the above, I hope you have a happy spring-related holiday. May it be filled with happiness, family (provided you like your family ^_~), and friends.

*hugs tightly*
